Kelsea Ballerini recently sat down with TalkShopLive for an intimate live stream about her new album, PATTERNS (dropping October 25), even previewing a few songs, and opened up about what fans can expect for her upcoming Madison Square Garden show.

But first, the new coach of The Voice gets real. Speaking directly to fans, Ballerini explains “I put on this cute little dress for you” but just out of sight, “I'm in sweatpants and UGGs just to really set the tone of what my vibe is for this conversation.”

Because the main theme of the new 15-song follow-up to Rolling Up the Welcome Mat is all about “my entry into my thirties and what that looks like and what that feels like,” Kelsea reports. “Let me assess my life.” And musically, the Grammy-nominated musician feels this album is “a big step up for me. And I think as a songwriter, I just hang my hat on it.”

To get the tone and feel that she wanted, Ballerini surrounded herself with women “who are just at the top of their game all the time,” she explains, co-producing and co-writing with Alysa Vanderheym, and working with songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Hillary Lindsey.

And even though Ballerini professes “I hate love songs,” she admits that “this is a love record.” So when fans attend her upcoming Madison Square Garden show, the “Blindsided” songstress advises them, “Don't wear heels. We're going to be standing, we're going to be dancing, we're going to be crying.”

Plus, fans at Ballerini’s live shows can expect openers Tigirlily Gold and Aly & AJ, and a meet and greet. But Kelsea specifies that the event’s sponsor will the “Chase the card, not the person, but we also love him,” giving a shoutout to boyfriend Chase Stokes.

Throughout the 38-minute TalkShopLive, Ballerini unpacks it all for fans. She breaks down her feelings on Kelly Clarkson, “She can do no wrong in my book. She is a god among us.” As well as a possible collab with Taylor Swift, “I would be honored. I just love her and everything she does. She has my number. Call me.” And there’s even an appearance from Kelsea’s dog, Dibs.
