Travis Kelce Speculates Criticism Over Taylor Swift Relationship Will "Rain Down" If Chiefs Lose

Travis Kelce knows when it rains, it pours.

And while the Kansas City Chiefs have held onto an undefeated season after five games, the tight end—whose own performance is being criticized, with some pointing to his relationship with Taylor Swift as the cause—Travis worries a loss will mean a barrage from naysayers.

“I just got to keep winning,” he noted during the Oct. 16 episode of his and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. “If we lose a game, it’s going to f--king rain down, baby.”

He continued with a smile, “So we gotta keep winning, staying on top.”

The 34-year-old’s comments came after the episode’s guest Pat McAfee spoke to the way Travis and Taylor’s relationship has impacted the game of football.

“I assume you hear it a lot Travis, you and Taylor's relationship is great for the sport,” Pat told Travis. “It is getting introduced to so many people, and you have been the perfect representation for our sport, too. Genuinely I think there's no other human that could do what you're doing.”

The former NFL pro continued, as Jason nodded along, “And how you’re doing it is awesome. And I need you to know that all of us are incredibly proud of the way you’re representing all of us.”

But when it comes to Travis himself, the seasoned player can handle the pressure—and, in response to those who’d allege he was too distracted with Taylor in the off season, he’d say he knows just how much he can handle.

"It's not necessarily pressure," Travis told E! News in October of his feelings heading into this NFL season. "I'm my own worst critic and I definitely, I definitely take that into account."

He continued, "Understanding how much time I had, how much rest I needed, I've gotten a pretty good gauge over the past ten years [of] being in the NFL, that I understand what I need to do to get ready for the season."

Meanwhile, Jason—who recently became an ESPN commentator after retiring from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year—has also come to his brother’s defense.

"Optics are that he is all over the place," Jason said before the Chiefs' Oct. 7 game against the New Orleans Saints, noting, "Football has always been the most important thing in Trav's life."

"He has always lived his life to the fullest," the 36-year-old continued, referencing Travis’ time away from the field. "He has enjoyed his off-seasons very much even before Taylor Swift and everything else that was going on in our lives."

But as Jason added, "He is always going to find a way to make football the number one priority."

And in the meantime, Taylor is trying to get to as many games as she can to support her guy on the Chiefs. For a look back at her game day style, keep reading.
