Model Doutzen Kroes Struts Through Shoe Malfunction at 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Doutzen Kroes didn’t let a small mishap ruin her angelic return to the runway.

Indeed, while the Dutch model walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City Oct. 15, her heel got caught in a section of the catwalk—but she recovered like a pro.

For the show—which also saw fellow veteran angels like Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima and Tyra Banks grace the stage—Doutzen rocked a blush pink two-piece underwear set, sheer crystal calf-length skirt, silver angel wings and strappy pink heels encrusted with bows. 

In a video posted to TikTok, the 39-year-old strutted down the runway, but stopped when her left heel became stuck in a section of the floor. When she lifted the shoe free, it slipped off of her foot while swinging from the straps around her ankle. 

The supermodel—who made her first appearance on the Victoria’s Secret runway in 10 years during the 2024 event—channeled her years of experience to recover from the speedbump, simply taking a second to bend down and put the heel back on. As she resumed her walk, she held two hands up to the crowd, who erupted in cheers.

Ahead of the show—held for the first time in six years—Doutzen reflected on the wisdom she’s earned since first appearing in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2005 at 20 years old.

“I’m 39 now, and getting wrinkles here and there,” she told Page Six in an interview published Oct. 15. “I gave up the fight! I want to see beauty in everything.”

Doutzen—who shares a son Phyllon Joy, 13, and daughter Myllena Mae, 10, with Sunnery James Gorre—also emphasized that she is “accepting aging” and focusing on what she now believes is more important than appearances.

“Self-development, self-care and self-love,” she continued. “It sounds very cliché, but I really believe that that’s what shows beauty. Being content with who you are.”

And due to the “many years of self-reflection,” centering those values has made her “a different person” over the past decade. 

“I’ve learned that work is not who I am,” Doutzen explained. “I am not my job. Everything that I get to do for my job is a bonus. And I really, really enjoy it.”
