TikToker Rachel Yaffe Dead at 27 After Battle With Liver Cancer

The wellness community on TikTok is mourning an inspiring creator.

Rachel Yaffe, who amassed over 55,000 followers on TikTok for her wellness and lifestyle-forward videos, died after a seven-year battle with a rare liver cancer on Oct. 11. She was 27.

In an obituary, her family noted that the services for mourning the TikToker are private, but she is survived by her parents, Linda Yaffe and Wayne Yaffe, as well as siblings Jordan Yaffe and Jessica Yaffe and her dog Layla.

The New York-based content creator had last posted to her followers early last month, where she gave a health update.

“I lost so much of my strength when I was getting radiation,” she told her followers in a Sept. 1 video. “So I’m starting from day one. It’s been so hard to get up and force myself to move, so I’m working on doing that.”

She added that her battle had been difficult “both physically and mentally.”

“I’m really just focusing on the small things that bring me joy,” Rachel explained. “And really prioritizing my mental health as well. That’s kind of the update on where I’m at right now.”

Throughout her battle with cancer, Rachel had used her online platform to create a positive environment for those seeking advice on how to create a healthier, happier life—even while battling disease.

“I know I don’t look like the stereotypical cancer patient,” Rachel explained in a July TikTok. “That’s part of the reason why I like to come on here and share my story and inspire hope and share a new perspective.”

The TikToker emphasized that she had made it through valleys of treatment that her practitioners did not believe she would.

“The universe only gives people what they can handle,” she said. “I know I can handle it. I can also say with one thousand percent certainty that this journey has made me a more happy, grateful person who knows themselves way more than they did before.”

After news of her death came to light, many of Rachel’s followers took to her videos to grieve.

“This is devastating to hear,” one fan wrote. “Rachel, you were such a bright light and beautiful person. Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us. Deepest condolences to your family & friends. May your beautiful soul rest in peace and may your memory be a continued blessing.”
