You Won’t Be Able to Let Go of Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager’s Titanic Halloween Costume Reveal
Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager flying this Halloween.
After all, the Hoda and Jenna hosts looked to one of the most iconic movie scenes for their costume-inspiration this year, stepping onto the Today plaza as Jack and Rose from Titanic.
For her part, Jenna was Kate Winslet’s Rose, donning an exact replica of the character’s billowing blue dress—white scarf and all—and topping off her look with a cascading red wig.
Hoda, meanwhile, celebrated her last Today Halloween celebration as Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack. The 60-year-old, who recently announced she’d be retiring from her role as an NBC anchor in the new year, looked practically unrecognizable totally changed in a short brown wig, trousers and suspenders.
But while her transformation was complete from her usual appearance, Hoda said the look actually reminded her of her past style.
“Oh my god, I feel like my seventh-grade self,” she joked in a behind-the-scenes look at her costume preparation, shared to Hoda and Jenna’s Instagram account. “This is really sad, I do. Because when I was a kid, they chopped my hair off and it looked kind of like this—on a good day.”
Yet she thought Jenna was the spitting image of Rose.
“You look like her!” Hoda gushed to her cohost in a subsequent video. “And I look like my Stephen Foster middle school self.”
But when it came to their big reveal, Hoda played the part perfectly.
Standing on a replica of the Titanic’s bow, with a sunset backdrop, Hoda wrapped her arms around Jenna as they swayed back and forth on the ocean’s “waves.”
And in a true homage to their characters, Jenna called out, “I’m flying!” right before Hoda yelled, “I’m king of the world!”
The iconic Titanic looks mark the last time Jenna and Hoda will dress up as a pair for Halloween before Hoda exits the show—a perfect cap off to what has been a long line of epic costumes for the two and their Today costars.
This year, they were joined on the Plaza by Elle Woods (Savannah Guthrie), Beetlejuice’s Lydia Deetz (Dylan Dreyer) and Beetlejuice (Al Roker), Ron Burgundy (Willie Geist), Austin Powers’ Foxxy Cleopatra (Sheinelle Jones) and Carson Daly as the titular character, Bring It On’s Isis (Laura Jarrett), Mrs. Doubtfire (Peter Alexander) and Craig Melvin as Beverly Hills Cop Axel F. Foley.
