Jennifer Garner Is Thriving in Iconic 13 Going on 30 Halloween Costume

Jennifer Garner is 30, flirty and thriving once again.

Two decades after 13 Going on 30 hit theaters, the actress paid homage to the film when she brought back the signature multi-colored cocktail dress for Halloween.

In an Oct. 30 TikTok, Jennifer—who starred alongside Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer in the movie—recreated the scene in the film where her character Jenna got ready for a party after becoming an adult to Whitney Houston's song "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

She captioned the montage, "Happy 20th Halloween, Jenna Rink."

However, with age comes with adjustments. So this time, the 52-year-old was also sure to apply a retinol cream, wear her glasses while putting on her makeup and accessorize the look with a more comfortable shoe choice—sneakers instead of strappy heels.

And while the dress was a blast from the past, it's not the original, according to the film's costume designer Susie DeSanto

"We were based in Los Angeles," she told People in April. "Her dress went into a warehouse, and I sadly think it's in a landfill somewhere. Who knows where it is?"

Because despite the piece becoming such a beloved look, she didn't expect it to transcend decades. In fact, she credits Jennifer with it being a fan favorite.

"The dress really wasn't premeditated," she continued. "Culture took the dress and went with it. The reason I think people fall in love with it is because of Jen. I think anybody else in that role, it would've just been a cute movie, but I think right then she was the exact right person with the right energy and ability to tap into her youthfulness."

But Jennifer—who is mom to her and ex-husband Ben Affleck's kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12—emphasized that it was all Susie.

"She came into that first meeting with an entire arc for Jenna: color, theme, shape," the Elektra star gushed to Vogue in April. "She is telling her own story that I would compare to being the illustrator of a children's book: they have their own thing going on that's sorta counterpoint to what the words are saying."

Jennifer also admitted that she was shocked to see people dressed up in the Versace dress for Halloween.

"It's the next generation of people watching it who have really made me aware of its staying power," she explained. "There've been multiple times when I'm out trick-or-treating with my kids and see someone dressed up as Jenna in that mini dress. The kids who were 13 when it came out are now grown-ups showing it to their kids—I know that because they always reach out to me and say, 'I'm now 30, flirty, and thriving!'"
