Aaron Rodgers Reveals He’s Drinking Cayenne Pepper Water to Give Him "Fountain of Youth"
Aaron Rodgers is playing defense against time.
The New York Jets quarterback shared that his secret to maintaining his "little fountain of youth" as of late has been drinking a mix of cayenne pepper and water.
In fact, Aaron—who is currently working through a rehab regimen after suffering hamstring, knee and ankle injuries throughout the 2024 NFL season—gave a special shoutout to his Jets teammate Thomas Morstead for getting him hooked on the elixir, which can have health benefits such as improving digestion, reducing inflammation and relieving pain, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
"He's been taking it for a while," Aaron told ESPN in an interview published Oct. 29. "[Maybe] that's why I've been feeling a little bit better."
But that's not the only way the 40-year-old has been staying on top of his health. As he put it, "I'm taking care of myself nonstop."
And while he admitted his performance on the field hasn't been "as good as I would've hoped" so far, Aaron is confident his wellness techniques will pay off in future games.
"I expect to be able to do a lot more this week," the athlete said. "I'll be under center and, hopefully, back to my faster-than-Godchaux speed."
Of course, Aaron is no stranger to trying out unique methods in hopes of improving his health. Back in February 2023, the football player raised eyebrows when he shared he would be embarking on a four-day "darkness retreat," which took place in a cabin built specifically for prolonged isolation in the dark.
According to Aaron, the experience has the potential to produce hallucinations similar to the psychedelic drug dimethyltryptamine (DMT).
“It’s just sitting in isolation, meditation, dealing with your thoughts,” Rodgers explained on The Pat McAfee Show at the time. “It stimulates DMT, so there can be some hallucinations in there, but it’s just kind of sitting in silence, which most of us never do. We rarely even turn our phone off or put the blinds down to sleep in darkness."
Nothing that participants can "leave if you can't do it," he added, “I’ve had a number of friends who’ve done it and had some profound experiences."
