Jenna Dewan's Fiancé Steve Kazee Denies Making Fun of Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz Breakup

Steve Kazee is setting the record straight.

After Jenna Dewan's fiancé raised eyebrows with a laughing post on social media at the same time multiple outlets shared that her ex-husband Channing Tatum's engagement to Zoë Kravitz had ended, he set the record straight by sharing exactly what he meant.

"A guy can't laugh about a houseplant Tik Tok in today's world I see…" Steve wrote on Stories Oct. 30, referencing his TikTok repost from the day before of a video that showed a dying plant and read, "The houseplant in my kitchen watching me put water in the coffee maker…"

The Tony winner had tagged Jenna—with whom he shares kids Callum, 4, and Rhiannon, 4 months—in the original post, and made sure to reassure his followers that his message was only about the plant.

"See? It's funny because it's relatable," Steve added, alongside photos of dying plants around the couple's home. "Get a life."

The 49-year-old took it one step further, posting a video of a dead plant on their kitchen counter next to a water filter, writing, "The most damning part."

For her part, Jenna—who recently settled her divorce from Channing, with whom he shares 11-year-old daughter Everly—has not commented on her ex's recent breakup. She did, however, take a moment to celebrate Steve's birthday.

"Grateful is not a big enough word," she wrote on Instagram Oct. 30, alongside several snaps of the two. "You make everything fuller and infinitely funnier."

The 43-year-old added, "I have many times wished I could give your mom the biggest and longest hug thanking her for bringing you into this world and into my life… But today I wish it the most."

Jenna and Steve have been together since the end of 2018, beginning their romance months after she and Channing, 44, announced their separation.

As for the Magic Mike alum, he and Zoë, 35, first sparked dating rumors in August 2021, shortly after he was cast in her directorial debut, Blink Twice. The duo got engaged in October 2023 and over the past year had been vocal about how much their relationship meant to the two of them.

"I don't really make any creative decisions or very many decisions without getting her point of view now," Channing told E! News in August, "because I respect her point of view and her brain, her tastes and almost everything. So we need each other now."

In a June 2021 interview with Deadline, Channing Tatum shared how honored he was that Zoë Kravitz thought to include him in her directorial debut, Pussy Island, later renamed Blink Twice.

Amid rumblings of a romance, Tatum and Kravitz appeared to confirm their relationship status in August 2021 with a sweet bike ride around New York City. "There's more than a friendship going on with Channing and Zoe," a source told E! News at the time. "They are spending a lot of time together and having fun. They are more than just close friends or co-stars. Their relationship has grown into more."

Sightings of the pair became more frequent, and they were spotted again in August enjoying a walk after having lunch in New York.

Though they initially posed separately on the 2021 Met Gala red carpet, the duo was photographed exiting the star-studded event together. Tatum even shared a photo with Kravitz on his Instagram Story from the after-party.

For their first Halloween together, the pair dressed up as Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster's characters from the film Taxi Driver

During a chat with GQ, Kravitz said of Tatum, "He's just a wonderful human. He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do. We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other."

They dressed up as Rosemary Woodhouse and her baby from Rosemary's Baby for Kendall Jenner's 2023 Halloween Party in L.A.

After over two years of dating, multiple outlets confirmed that Kravitz and Tatum were engaged to be married.

The recently engaged couple was spotted leaving a date night at Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, Calif.

Channing showed his support for the Kravitz fam by joining Zoe and her dad Lenny Kravitz at his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Ceremony.

They looked smitten at the Los Angeles premiere of their movie collaboration, Blink Twice.

The pair continued their press tour together at the European premiere of Blink Twice in London.

Tatum and Kravitz broke up after three years together, multiple outlets reported in October 2024.
