Channing Tatum Reveals New Movie With Zoë Kravitz Hours Before Breakup News

Blink twice before reading this casting news.

Just two hours before multiple outlets reported Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz had called off their engagement, the Magic Mike star announced his latest film project—which is also set to star his now-ex.

In an Instagram Stories post Oct. 29, the actor reshared Dave Bautista’s post about their upcoming comedy Alpha Gang. The film “centers on a group of alien invaders sent to conquer Earth,” and is set to star Channing and Zoë, in addition to Cate Blanchett, Steven Yeun, Riley Keough and Léa Seydoux, according to the Deadline article that Channing reshared.

The pair haven’t publicly spoken about the breakup. E! News has reached out to their reps for comment but hasn’t heard back.

Channing, 44, and Zoë, 35, were first introduced by mutual friend Riley before working together on Zoë’s directorial debut Blink Twice, which was released in August. The pair sparked dating rumors during production on the thriller in 2021, when they were spotted riding around New York City on his motorcycle. By October 2023, the two were engaged, with Zoë flaunting an engagement ring at a Halloween party hosted by Kendall Jenner.

Throughout the relationship, the Big Little Lies alum frequently praised her partner for his open-minded demeanor.

“I felt, even from afar, before I knew him, that he was a feminist and that he wasn't afraid of exploring that darkness, because he knows he's not that,” Zoë told WSJ Magazine in August 2022. “That's why I was drawn to him and wanted to meet with him. And I was right.”

Similarly, the 21 Jump Street star—who settled his divorce from ex-wife Jenna Dewan just one month ago—felt a strong bond with the High Fidelity actress that carried over into his professional life.

“I don’t really make any creative decisions or very many decisions without getting her point of view now,” Channing told E! News in August, “because I respect her point of view and her brain, her tastes and almost everything. So we need each other now.”

In a June 2021 interview with Deadline, Channing Tatum shared how honored he was that Zoë Kravitz thought to include him in her directorial debut, Pussy Island, later renamed Blink Twice.

Amid rumblings of a romance, Tatum and Kravitz appeared to confirm their relationship status in August 2021 with a sweet bike ride around New York City. "There's more than a friendship going on with Channing and Zoe," a source told E! News at the time. "They are spending a lot of time together and having fun. They are more than just close friends or co-stars. Their relationship has grown into more."

Sightings of the pair became more frequent, and they were spotted again in August enjoying a walk after having lunch in New York.

Though they initially posed separately on the 2021 Met Gala red carpet, the duo was photographed exiting the star-studded event together. Tatum even shared a photo with Kravitz on his Instagram Story from the after-party.

For their first Halloween together, the pair dressed up as Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster's characters from the film Taxi Driver

During a chat with GQ, Kravitz said of Tatum, "He's just a wonderful human. He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do. We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other."

They dressed up as Rosemary Woodhouse and her baby from Rosemary's Baby for Kendall Jenner's 2023 Halloween Party in L.A.

After over two years of dating, multiple outlets confirmed that Kravitz and Tatum were engaged to be married.

The recently engaged couple was spotted leaving a date night at Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, Calif.

Channing showed his support for the Kravitz fam by joining Zoe and her dad Lenny Kravitz at his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Ceremony.

They looked smitten at the Los Angeles premiere of their movie collaboration, Blink Twice.

The pair continued their press tour together at the European premiere of Blink Twice in London.

Tatum and Kravitz broke up after three years together, multiple outlets reported in October 2024.
