How TikToker Rachel Siegel Is Bouncing Back After Getting Left at the Altar

One bride is inspiring TikTok thanks to her reaction to getting left at the altar.

Rachel Siegel went viral on Oct. 8 when she shared a video of herself in her Safiyaa wedding dress and cape, telling the camera, “My name’s Rachel Siegel and my fiancé just left me at the altar.”

The bride’s positive outlook on the upsetting situation and her willingness to continue to celebrate with her friends and family has inspired her more than 200,000 followers in the wake of her failed nuptials.

Siegel, a professional dancer, subsequently shared videos of herself and her bridal party singing on a trolley meant to transport the group to the reception. And she shared insight into how she and her loved ones still found joy in the day as she posted a touching video of herself and her mom dancing to Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” at her would-be reception.

“I’m really surprised and honored to have all of you here with me and share in my story,” Siegel said in a video after her initial left at the altar video received more than 40 million views. “I’m not ready to talk about it yet, but when I’m ready to share more, I’ll be here with you all.”

Calling the experience “one of the most painful days of my life that turned into something very beautiful,” Siegel has gone on to share moments of joy and sorrow as she navigates this new life without her former fiancé.

“I want to make it clear that when I posted that video, it was not for revenge or to hurt anybody,” Siegel later explained in another video, “It was to take ownership of a situation that happened to me and have power over that situation and be the first one to tell the world what happened. And I want to make it clear that I don’t want anyone to be hurt.”

She added that by witnessing the support she received from her friends and family and the online community, she’s been able to move forward.

“Although I lost a great love,” she noted, “I was shown immense love and I was surrounded by people who wanted to make me feel okay again and alive and that’s what happened. And I’m so grateful for that.”
