TikToker Abbie Herbert Jokes She Broke Her Hip After Trying Dancing With the Stars Trend
Some things just need to stay in the ballroom.
Days after Danny Amendola and Witney Carson wowed Dancing With the stars fans with a spectacular lift, many on social media have attempted to recreate the move. But as Abbie Herbert proved, it was certainly easier said than done.
The TikToker shared a video of her and Josh Herbert giving their best DWTS try with Abbie laying on the ground, while Josh grabs her leg and attempts to lift her and swing her towards the front of his body.
However, when it appears that Abbie is about to execute the move, she slides on the hardwood floor and falls directly on her hip. Abbie laughs off the fail, while Josh covers his mouth in disbelief and the person recording the video lets out an audible gasp.
The hard landing shocked their daughter Poppy, 3, who burst into tears after seeing her mom hit the floor.
Joking about the moment, Abbie—who also shares son Jagger, 19 months, with Josh—wrote over the Oct. 21 video, “Dr: How did you break your hip?”
Further making light of the moment, she captioned the post, “I’m hurting.”
However, before the painful attempt, Abbie and Josh proved they were able to pull off the move.
Abbie, 28, shared a video on her Instagram account on Oct. 20 of her and Josh, 34, executing the move writing, “Us after putting the kids to bed at 7 pm.”
Confirming that she did hurt herself in the attempt, Abbie wrote, “I broke my hip after this. im not joking.”
Danny and Witney perfectly executed the move during their contemporary routine on the Oct. 15 episode of DWTS, where they walked away with an impressive 36 out of 40. In the days that followed, several people on social media—including fellow season 33 contestant Ilona Maher and her partner Alan Bersten—have tried to execute what the dancing duo have deemed, “Operation Archer.”
And after seeing a whole lot of varying degrees of success, the duo set the record straight on exactly how to pull it off.
“We are LOVING all the videos of you guys trying our lifts and tricks,” Witney captioned the Tk date demonstration on TikTok. “Especially ‘operation archer’ killing it!” In the video, the pair demonstrate the correct way to execute the move.
And having spent some time at the top of the leaderboard, it seems like Danny’s strategy when it comes to taking on the dance floor is paying off.
“I’m worried about what I can control out on the dance floor and then everything else can take care of itself,” the NFL alum told E! News in September. “I value what the judges say and I value what the fans say. At the end of the day, we worry about what we can control and that’s the right dance.”
