Lady Gaga Details Michael Polansky's Sweet Proposal, Shares Wedding Plans

Lady Gaga’s fiancé Michael Polansky knows she likes to rock out.

Two months after confirming her engagement at the Paris Olympics, the Joker: Folie à Deux star is more than happy to gush about her recent proposal and plans for an upcoming wedding.

“He proposed to me right after my birthday, so my birthday passed and I was like, ‘Oh, I thought he was going to propose,’” Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, recalled on Jimmy Kimmel Live Oct. 1. “We went on a trip together, and we went rock climbing and we’ve been rock climbing before, which was super fun.”

When host Jimmy Kimmel asked if Gaga regularly climbed rocks, the “Applause” singer replied, “I do now. I would do anything for love.”

As for what the fashion-forward star was wearing during the milestone moment, she shared, “I dress for safety and comfort because you’ve got to get to the top and you’ve got to go back down.”

The 38-year-old detailed the logistics of the proposal, including the sweet question her fiancé asked her before officially pulling out the ring.

“We climbed to the top, we looked around, took so photos. And then went back down and we were just walking back to the room,” she explained. “And he actually—it was very Michael—he asked me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed. And I was like, ‘Yes, it’s so okay.’”

When Kimmel noted he would have proposed at the top of the rock, Gaga replied, “I think it was smart. It was safe. He had the ring in his backpack, so it was super cute.”

She added that Polansky also skipped the traditional step of getting down on one knee when he asked her to marry him.

“He didn’t, but I’m a modern lady,” the Oscar winner noted. “I like what he did.”

As for the big day, Gaga said that the couple are “not exactly sure yet” what the plan to do.

“We actually talk a lot of about just going to a courthouse just the two of us and just ordering Chinese food,” she said. “But knowing me, also it could become a circus with unicorns.”
